So, you've finally received your new jewellery? Yay! We just know that you'll love your new trinkets. Although our jewellery is made with the utmost quality, there are some tips that will keep your new bling looking beautiful and shiny, while minimising the risk of tarnishing.
1. Avoid contact with chemicals.
Yes, this unfortunately includes makeup, perfume, lotions, and just about anything you apply to your body. (Does this mean I can never wear deodorant again?!?) Certainly not. Please. Keep. Wearing. Deodorant.
Simply apply your products/perfumes prior to your jewellery
2. Avoid contact with moisture.
Moisture, including sweat unfortunately, can tarnish plated jewellery, so be mindful of the pieces you are wearing.
Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering and exercising.
3. Clean your jewellery.
Exposure to chemicals and moisture is somewhat inevitable (especially if you live in a warm location), but there is an easy method of keeping your jewels clean, while also restoring it’s lovely shine.
Use a cotton ball or soft cloth to gently rub the jewellery after each wear.
4. Reduce exposure to oxygen.
Metals tarnish when they are exposed to oxygen. You can't reduce exposure to oxygen though, right? Wrong! You absolutely can.
Reduce tarnishing by keeping your jewellery in your First Love pouch.
5. Remove your jewellery before bedtime.
We know you want to wear your jewellery as much as you can, but if you're anything like me - you toss and turn in your sleep. And this puts your jewellery in danger. Mortal danger.
Return your jewellery to its First Love pouch each night before bed.
6. Store your jewellery in isolation.
Solitary confinement is far from a punishment for your jewellery. In fact, it's the best thing for it! Jewellery should be encouraged to respect its peer's personal space.
Store and transport your jewellery pieces separately from each other.
